CHAPLEAU AGING HOME

2017, Chapleau, Ontario.

This project challenged me to create a residential building for people who are aging. Aging in this sense refers to anybody anticipating an older age who does not want to have to move out of their home for more accessible but less independent housing that is usually is associated with growing older. This also includes the needs of the elderly. My main focus became to design for different aspects of growth that may occur or become of interest as one gets older. A featured year-round green house in my design became my signature piece because the growth of food is a productive way to source food for the residents and an opportunity to teach younger generations to grow food from younger ages.
